Fáilte Feirste Thiar host Tourism NI Local Industry Engagement

Fáilte Feirste Thiar as the tourism development agency for West Belfast as part of our wider stakeholder engagement programme recently convened a meeting with the CEO of Tourism NI and his senior product development team.

The day began with a visit to An Chultúrlann where the team from TNI were met by none other than Donna and George (yes George Clooney!). Brassneck theatre performed a short outtake from their record breaking play ‘A night with George’. After the fun it was down to business.

Conradh na Gaelige provide a tour of the building before we spent some time presenting to TNI on the exciting plans a foot for Féile an Phobail’s 30th anniversary in 2018. TNI are already key stakeholders of Féile and have funded the festival heavily in recent years however the meeting provided an opportunity to explore how Féile can maximise its tourism impact with lots of practical and pragmatic suggestions to take forward.

We left Cultúrlann and made our way to the aptly named Lovely Loaf Café where we were met by a cross section of the wider tourism and hospitality industry in West Belfast.

Over award winning sausage rolls we provided a platform for those at the coal face of tourism locally to update TNI on plans and their impact on tourism locally.

TNI then took the opportunity to update us on their ambitious strategic plans to double the current economic impact of tourism to the local economy by 2030.

We made a special indigenous presentation of a West Belfast branded TNI hurl kindly provided by the team at PRO GAA.

Thanks to John, Rosemarie and Rosemary for taking the time to engage and we look forward to working together moving forward to realise the potential of tourism locally and indeed beyond.
